Services: PET/CT

Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT)

Positron emission tomography (PET)is a noninvasive, painless molecular imaging technology that allows physicians to determine how organs and tissues inside the body are functioning on a molecular and cellular level. PET is a powerful diagnostic tool that is advancing our understanding of the underlying causes of disease and improving the way in which many diseases are detected and treated. PET scans are one of the most effective types of nuclear medicine procedures for detecting cancer, brain disorders, heart conditions and other diseases. PET scans have advanced greatly since it was introduced in the 1970s. When combined with the anatomic information from a CT scan, PET/CT can pinpoint the exact location of abnormal metabolic activity occurring in the body.

Now offering the 1st Outpatient UltraHD PET/CT in Maricopa

As part of an ongoing effort to offer patients the most cutting-edge medical imaging technology available,Valley Radiologists recently acquired the first Outpatient UltraHD PET in Maricopa! UltraHD is a combination of HD-PET and Time-of-Flight (TOF) which offers features to enhance PET image quality/resolution, reduce acquisition time and reduce dose. The system also features CT metal artifact reduction (iMAR) to reduce artifacts caused by metal implants.

PET/CT imaging offers great value in patient care. Visualizing small lesions early can help clinicians more accurately stage disease and evaluate therapy response, leading to more effective treatment strategies.

This innovative system will better enable Valley Radiologists to deliver the highest levels of efficient and effective care to more patients.
